Got an hour or so to kill in London one evening. Need to use evening meal expenses
Ok a bit of a silly question this but I normally avoid the capital like the plague so I have no idea on this one. I have a set of railway tickets, the first is from Newport (Gwent) to "london terminals" and the second from "london terminals" to Aberdeen on the sleeper train. This is a split ticketing route which I picked…

Driving newly bought car with no tax
Hi My daughter has seen a car she wants to buy, but it has no tax and the owner has transferred the insurance to a new car, so he no longer has insurance so can't tax the car. I have no problem getting insurance sorted, but have to wait for a posted certificate before the car can be taxed, so the car will be insured and…

Rejecting a new car
Hi. I am looking for advise on next steps in rejecting a new car. Long story I'll stick to the facts. Bought a brand new Skoda Octavia Vrs in June from Oxford dealer. Two weeks old and ECU light came on. As I live in Devon I took to local dealer. They reset but after 24 hours it came back on. This happened 3 times over the…

Car lease including insurance for 18 year old
My 18 year old grandson tells me that he is about to lease a car which includes tax, insurance etc. for about £200 per month over a three year period. I would have thought that the insurance alone would have cost about that. No further details given and no paperwork seen. Anyone (apart from cyclonebri) heard of these…

Oh no my car is dying...help
I have a 1.7 Puma which I love, however, I got bad news from the garage today. They said it needs quite a bit of work done on it & have suggested that I look into getting another car. It's been quite a few years since I last looked for another car, so I'm abit out of touch with what's out there. Unfortunatly, I haven't got…

VW Polo - timing chain?
My car has been in the garage since Friday when the EGR valve went, and it has been fixed under warranty. I was also told that the lamda sensor was broken and needed to be fixed (and this was causing the car not to start intermittantly due to the engine being flooded with fuel). This was going to cost me £89 to fix. Today…

Should MOT Advisory Notes be given to you by the seller?
Hi, 6 months ago (end of December 2009) I bought a Vauxhall Astra which had to have an MOT before I could collect. My car passed and I was given a copy of the MOT Certificate. I have just had to put the car in for a service as it had done 50K miles. It has just cost me £800 as not only did it need a service, but it needed…

Selling car on Ebay - am I being scammed?
Hi I have just put a car up for sale on Ebay and within 5 minutes of the listing I have received 3 phone calls. All 3 callers were very eager to come and view the car, offering my reserve price or, in the case of the last caller, £500 over that for a immediate sale (said he was in the area and had the cash and driving…

A wierd and strange thing happened this morning. I used an unattended petrol station attached to a supermarket to fill my motorcycle up and found the first pay at pump didn't work. It authorised my card and did the actions of filling but never dispensed any fuel. However I tried another pump, card authorised for a £99 fill…
