Car finance advice please
I need to get a new car - here's the background as to why (other than just wanting one of course!) I've got a 1998 Saab with a big engine, had it 3 or 4 years it's been OK but things are slowly failing and it guzzles fuel around town - <25mpg. I only do about 15 miles a day but it's costing me 80+ per month. Last MoT (6…

UK Petrol Tax Jumps At Twice Euro Average
British drivers have been hit by petrol tax rises running at twice the average rate across Europe, new data shows. The AA said VAT on a tank of petrol in the UK has gone up 11.46% since the pre-Budget report at the end of November 2008. That is over five times the increase seen in Austria and more than double the 5.07%…

Will I need brake pads & discs?
My light has come on for brake pads. I have never owned a car long enough that they needed changing :o The local company that fitted my tyres have quoted me just under £300 for front pads and discs. Will I need discs as well? It is a 2 year old MINI Cooper S, has done just under 30k now and it's an out-of-town car that…

To buy or not to buy
I've been to look at cars tonight. I currently have an R reg Corsa. Because the scrappage deal is coming to an end I had to go have another look at new cars, after previously looking a few months ago. My car at the minute is okay, but there are a few things starting to go wrong. The steering has felt a bit dodgy recently…

Coloured tyres...
How hard could it be to make tyres that rather than have wear indicators, have red coloured rubber? So that when the tyres wear down, they change from black to red. It upsets me at the number of cars on the road with bald tyres.

Amazon with LPG anyone?
The loud exhaust on my bike doesn't intimidate all the grannies in my home town, so I'm considering an LPG-converted Toyota Landcruiser Amazon to get the rest of them. Does anyone have one of these beasties? If so, what sort of mileage are you getting on LPG? My guesstimate having owned a LPG Disco is around 14mpg.

Should I go through insurance or pay other driver directly
Hello Last week (Wednesday) I was behind a car at a junction, they looked like they were about to go, I looked to my right at the traffic and was moving forward, the car infront then stopped, I didn't see in time and went into the back of them (was probably only going about 5mph max). Anyway, I got out and we both looked…

Hyundai i10 vs Fiat panda 1.2 dynamic
I'm torn between these two cars. I need to get myself a new car before the scrappage ends, but have heavy restrictions. It needs to be an eco car, and I think even emissions of 119g is too much but i'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping its ok. I'm mainly going to be doing motorway miles, which isn't ideal, but for…
