Vauxhall corsa 1.2 new clutch bill
Options
For your information or welcome comment
A friend has a Vauxhall corsa 1.2 2002 with air conditioning
"The gears were hard to engage spongy plus pedal came right up too, and gears noisy" - etc so it went to the main dealer.
Including 2 rear tyres at £38 each and the usual balancing plus vat
the bill came to £680 ish for the above plus a new clutch - so new clutch about £500
does that sound about right
Andover main Vauxhall dealer
Many thanks for any advice

sounds expensive for a clutch but then again it is a main dealer.0

Clutch £80.
Gears hard to engage will be the most common fault on Corsa's - the linkage.0 -

lmfao what year are you in:):)0 -
sounds about bang on the money for main dealer prices, an independant would be roughly 300-450 depending on parts. A fair bit of labour involved in doing a clutch plus gearbox oil would need refilling as well, plus the hassle of splitting the balljoints and removing the driveshafts, theres frequently snags at that stage. It's a huge step backwards actually from the older vauxhalls, I could change a mk2/3 cavalier or astra clutch in under 20 minutes start to finish without breaking a sweat, half an hour tops if only using hand tools or the input shaft is a bit reluctant to pull out.0

now this is 1985 good old cavaliers replacing a clutch without removing the gearbox. happy days:)0 -
you could do it right up to the 1995 ones unless they had the f18 or f20cr gearboxes on them. they were the best cars going. I`d have a mk2 or mk3 cav as a daily driver in a second If there were any good ones left about here that werent funny money.0
