To buy or not to buy
I've been to look at cars tonight. I currently have an R reg Corsa. Because the scrappage deal is coming to an end I had to go have another look at new cars, after previously looking a few months ago.
My car at the minute is okay, but there are a few things starting to go wrong. The steering has felt a bit dodgy recently for example. I do have a feeling it is going to cost me a fair bit in the next MOT in Nov.
I've been looking at Hyundai i10 (Style - £6775) and Fiat 500 (Pop -£7300). Suzuki also reckon the can do me a good deal on a Swift. Are these prices pretty average... I am guessing so as there doesn't seem to be much room for the dealers to do discounts with the scrappage.
I have been told I have this weekend, and after that they will have no more places left on this scrappage deal, so I am frantically trying to work out what to do.
I've no idea what new car prices are like as my Corsa was my first car, and obviously nobody has a crystal ball. I am just wondering whether anybody who know's about new cars can have a guess at what prices are going to be like once scrappage comes to an end?
I really don't want to rush into such a big decision, but do feel like I am going to have to decide by tomorrow.

Well, you could fit a gold plated steering rack to the Corsa and it'll still be less than the cheapest brand new car.0

I can't remember... how bad is that
and the paper work is all put away. There was something... but i've had a lot going on since then.
I think I just need someone to make the decision for me. It's just knowing I am never going to get anywhere near that amount for my Corsa again, and I've only got a couple of days to decide what to do.0 -
I was in the same state, old Feista 1998 car is due MOT end of March and was told at last MOT welding required next year, car is worth about £600.
So went to have a look at new Suzuki Swift 1.3 SZ4 and went for it brand new with scrappage deal, and £2000 cash, got it on a PCP deal works out at £82 a month and then in 3 years either pay GFV, start again or hand car back and walk away.
I did think about this long and hard and then thought £82 a month...... no brainer!0 -

I got my dad to test drive the Swift as he's really into cars, wheras I would just be like 'well it works, that means it's okay'. He was really unimpressed with it, after initially recommending it to me. The salesman turned out to be a bit of an idiot too so I think that put him off.
I ordered the Fiat 500, not sure if I'll end up with it, got to wait two weeks to see if there are any spaces left the scrappage deal (see other topic). Fingers crossed though.0 -
Good luck..... Fiat (Italian) only good for wine, pizza & pasta......lol0

Just remember that you will lose more dosh the second the car is registered in your name than you will get for the Corsa, and thats a fact;)
Scappage = total bolix unless you actually want a new car:TI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

It's a car I've wanted for a while, and there's no way I would have been able to afford it without scrappage, my car's worth about £400 and should it require a lot spending on it in it's next MOT, will be completely worthless to me and I will be back at square one.0 -

I did a lot of reading up on it beforehand and have found very few bad reports on it.
I'm still not getting excited though, can't see me getting it

You sound decided but I really don't really see how getting £2000 off an over inflated purchase price suddenly means you can afford it.0
