Can anyone tell me if there are loopholes regarding car tax fines. My partner had applied and payed for his car tax online, however he has been fined 60.00 for not displaying, tax was out by 5 days?

Thought some of you may find this interesting, Came across it on the BBC website earlier. It shows the top 10 worst MOT failing cars (2007) according to VOSA's failure rates on 3 year old cars having their first MOT. It doesnt say though how severe the failures are though:

Safety Recall
My car of seven months old has been recalled for a safety check. Phoned garage today to book car in for the check. They need the car for at least a couple of hours. Do I have any rights to have a courtesy car? Garage said I would need to pay around £15 to cover insurance. Best they will do for me is drop me in nearest town…

Will scrappage continue?? £10m left
I note that it is expected that the scrappage scheme will not have reached its full spend by the allocated end date in February. I have an old Astra taxed and MOTd that is pretty worthless and would buy a scrappage bargain if I knew what deal is best.

How can I turn off parking lights on an '09 Ford Focus???
