PEUGEOT 307 Estate - Any good?
Options
Hi,
I know next to nothing about cars so need some help in deciding if a PEUGEOT 307 Estate (2005/2006 range) is any good? I currently have a 10 year old Honda Civic and it is as reliable as anything - never broken down nor had any issues....I would want something similar hopefully with the price range I have of about £4000.
I normally drive about 6000 miles a year, mainly weekend trips with the kids and just need something reliable and economical (as my Honda is - looking for a 1.8L max engine size as well).
Thanks,
Lara

As I understand it, they have poor build quality and very poor reliability. So much so that the car's reliability was the cause of West Mids Police dropping It's main contract with Peugeot and now buys very few.0

AFAIK the French still haven't got the hang of building reliable cars with fully functional electrics. You'd be downgrading to go to a 307 from a Civic. Not really sure exactly what to suggest tbh, but probably something Jap or a Ford of some description?0

thanks guys for the info - helps a lot. I was interested in a Ford or any Jap car to be honest as well. The civic is really reliable but its done its time and need to move on.... that's Peugeot off my list then...0

Lovely looking car but built by 'Wise guzzling, cheese eating surrender monkeys' (I have french ancestry so it's allowed)........'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.

Why not go for another Honda?

I rented one of these absolutely nothing wrong with this car.0

A good car for similar money would be a Ford Focus Estate -cheap, reliable, good handling. Much much better than the 307.
If you really like Honda, why not look at a Honda Jazz, as they don't make the Civic in an Estate. The Jazz is like a Tardis - small on the outside but huge on the inside. It's comparable in size on the inside to the 307, but is safe and reliable and the flexible seating system is fantastic.0
