It really depends on the car you like, But I think the deals available for the Suzuki Swift, includes 0% finance, and Hyundia are quite good.
I can't decide to go for it. I am convinced that the saving the scrappage scheme gives has been diluted by the manufacturers / dealers inflating the price as the scheme began.Mortgage free

It's true about some manufacturers putting prices up in the last year, Ford for instance has increased prices four times making the Fiesta £2000 more expensive than when the scheme started. The Ka's starting price is now the same as a Fiesta was before the price hikes.
Now some people will say that list price has no bearing on what you pay retail, but surely if list price increases by £2000 then the discounted retail price will increase the same.
Maybe after scrappage has ended the discounts will increase.

Has a lot of the price increases not to do with the state of the £ against the euro?0 -
really i think the majority of people that could / wanted to take advantage of the scheme probably have by now. The goverment cant keep the industry on life support indefinately its about time they started removing stimulus from the economy and let us see whats really left.If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Fords seem to be very expensive at the moment,I have always liked them partly because of the pricing but something like a Fiesta Zetec S is currently about £15,600.0

My friend's been in touch with me after seeing my shiny new Clio and was after a Fiesta. I told her about the steady price increases, but she's just been to a dealer and been offered a Zetec 1.25 for 8995, actually on the forecourt at the minute. Sounds odd to me as I had to wait 15 weeks for the Clio and just checked WhatCar and the fiesta is the most popular scrappage car?
I've said that she needs to check if it's a pre-reg or not, as they're not eligible for the scrappage. Sounds to me as though they've got a pre-reg they want to shift and they're offering the equivalent scrappage discount (+ more) on trading in her old Punto?0 -

Even if it is a pre-reg, if they'll give her £2000 for her old Punto in an attempt to shift it then it beats scrappage hands down, assuming it's just delivery mileage.
Isn't the list price for a Zetec around £13,000 ?0 -

i don't see the problem here,as long as she knows what she is getting why does it matter if the old car gets scrapped or auctioned? surely as long as she gets the right car at the right price thats all that should worry her.
it may be a cancelled order or it may be that the dealer bought it to hit a sales target on a slow december?...work permit granted!0 -
I think there'll be a bit of a last minute rush and the dealers will obviously try milk this pointing out when the scheme ends.0
