Just been out to check SWMBO's, and you don't need a spanner for the + terminal-just lift up the red toggle,and the clamp releases.The - terminal is an 8mm bolt(I couldn't believe it either).This is for a 55 reg diesel,others may be different.0

Usually a 13 and 10 but a lot of modern French cars use an 8 on the terminal.0

Why not meaure the nut across the flats?

Whatever 'W' is in mm that will tell you what spanner to use.
But you need to check for other securing nuts, there is bound to be more than just the two holding the cables to the positive and negative terminals.
Usually a 13 for the securing bolt and 10 on the terminals.0
