Can anyone tell me if there are loopholes regarding car tax fines. My partner had applied and payed for his car tax online, however he has been fined 60.00 for not displaying, tax was out by 5 days?

As above, it depends when you applied for the new tax disc.If you prefer to tax in the last few days of the month, there is now an exemption from the offence of not displaying a tax disc. This exemption covers the first five working days of the month and allows time for the new disc to arrive in the post.
The exemption only applies if applications are made before the current tax disc or SORN expires.

5 working days would take you to the 8th (possibly 11th in Scotland) in January.
If after that think he is stuffed.0 -
Sorry, there are no loopholes regarding car tax. Probably best to pay the fine and get on with your life. I know its hard to have to pay up for something so trivial, especially as everything else was above board. Trying to fight this kind of thing is a losing battle I'm afraid. Wish I could of offered some more help, it does seem terribly unfair.0
