National Express East Anglia
Hi there I am a commuter from Essex to London and am increasingly facing delays. The past 2 weeks have been the worst, with delays from 30minutes to 3 hours. So, I decided I need to start claiming back on the delays. Some people use the Delay Repay Forms found at the station but these can take weeks to process (one of my…

Car hire for over-80s??
My in-laws (both 82) want to come and stay with us for a few days over the summer. As they live at the other end of the country, they'll come here by train, but when they get here want to be able to go off and do their own thing rather than rely on us. All the car hire companies I've looked at seem to stop hiring when…

Tank Half Full
Hi All, I've been wondering whether only ever having your tank half full, whilst getting you better economy, actually saves you money? Wonder if anyone's maths is good enough to work this out... Thinking about it, I "fill up" (halfway) one week, when petrol's 1.19/l - now, two weeks later, when I fill up, the cost is…

New family car/mini MPV - advice please?
Hello I'm currently expecting our second baby, and need to upgrade our VW Polo to a bigger car. We've had the Polo for about 5 years, and it's been super-reliable and super-cheap to run (it's only a 1 litre engine). I'm thinking about looking at mini MPVs (Renault Scenic or Citroen Picasso??), but really know very little…

Speed, car choice and MPG research results
I posted this on another thread, but thought I'd share it more openly on a new thread. Lot's of people understandably asking do I buy a petrol or diesel car, this car or that car. Some people saying I get x mpg on this car but not so much on that car. Problem is there is no simple rule for which car or fuel type is best,…

Minibus for Family
Hi We recently purchased a second hand minibus for our family. We have 5 kids, aged 9,7,6,4 and 2. We got fed up of being unable to fit anything in the car when we were all in it, and a family trip to France last year lead to us driving 2 cars. Anyway, I am wondering if anyone can help with a couple of points. On a long…

Legal to drive after an accident?
I was in a car crash today and was wondering if it's legal to drive the car after an accident? The bonnet of my car is quite badly damaged, although everything inside looks OK (from what I can see, although I'm no mechanic!). The bumper and right headlight are also damaged (so definately can't drive it at night). I drove…

The Train Line and Visa Electron
Hi there, I'm not sure if someone's already posted about this, but for many years thetrainline.com haven't accepted Visa Electron cards for payment. This used to cause me loads of problems, and the credit card fee is £2.50 per booking, and debit card only 50p. I noticed today when booking that they now accept Visa…
