Legal to drive after an accident?

Options
I was in a car crash today and was wondering if it's legal to drive the car after an accident? The bonnet of my car is quite badly damaged, although everything inside looks OK (from what I can see, although I'm no mechanic!). The bumper and right headlight are also damaged (so definately can't drive it at night). I drove it home after the accident, but now am wondering if I can drive it to the garage or could I get pulled over by the police?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

It would depend on the extent of the damage. It won't be legal if you do not have, for example. operational indicators. You could possibly get away with headlight damage if it is daytime and good visibility, but you should make sure there are no sharp edges which could potentially injure someone.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • Book an appointment with the garage and make safe anything you can. If you get pulled (extremely unlikely given the lack of trafpol around these days) at least you'll be able to confirm you're going to get it repaired.
