Veka composite door
Could someone knowledgeable please give me any info on Veka composite doors, I was looking at the Solidor range but the quote was in the region of £2500 from my 2 nearest stockists, one of the stockists suggested a Veka equivalent for £1700 which he stated was almost as good as the Solidor. Is it really for £800 less? I…

Roof maintenance now while we have scaffolding up
We are having a dormer window installed on one side of the roof of a mid terraced slate roof house, and have scaffolding up to do the job. Having inspected the roof up close I can see it's a bit shabby with quite a few slipped slates, and others which are very crumbled with almost completely rusted nails. The roofer has…

Neighbour's right of access
Apologies if this is the wrong place for this query. My neighbour has a detached house that has been extended right up to the boundary with my property. The original house was built right up to his boundary on the south side of his property, so this extension has effectively prevented him access to his rear garden other…

Mereway premium partner kitchen install.
I used the Mereway website to select one of their recommended Premium partner kitchen installers. My kitchen was installed to a appalling standard. Was left with 5 minor leaks,a cupboard door not closing as it caught on a worktop edge,so the installers just cut a notch out of the worktop end, so much filler between a…

Money Claim/CCJ Received by Builder
I have received a money claim letter from my last builder requesting £10k for unpaid work, from my knowledge this is a requirement before a CCJ is submitted. After my initial builder was unable to complete the work, I was put in a position I had to retender the work, after a few quotes I found a builder stating he can…

ADVICE PLEASE Converting loft to usable room
Hello. I have contacted a loft company about converting our loft to a tv room. Nothing fancy but the layout means we would need a hip end gable and to move our bathroom for stair access... this is too much money (0ver 30,0000) when we just want a room with velux that is well insulated and warm for the kids to use as a…

Damp patch after rain (picture)
Hi again, I seem to be posting loads about damp problems at the moment! I've got what i guess is a patch of penetrating damp on the wall around a window in my hallway. Stud wall cost
We live in an old 2 up 2 down type terrace which has had a loft conversion done long before we moved in. The only problem with this is you have to walk through the back bedroom to get access to the staircase for the loft. The master bedroom is massive and we could easily lose some space from this to create access from this…

Those who know about tiles/tiling
So I'm planning on getting the bathroom refurbed and getting the whole bathroom tiled in porcelain. Walls/floor/shower room. So from what I gather the tiles in B&Q/Wickes aren't generally the best quality tiles, as they are get the B Grade stuff from the actual tiles manufacturers. Fair enough, the selections in there were…
