Water pipes
Please help. When I run a bath, and the tank in the loft starts to fill, the noise of the water going through the pipes is very loud throughout the house. I had a new ballcock fitted in the loft tank last week by british gas ( as i am covered by them ). Do you think this is the reason, if so, what can I do about it?

Is this asbestos?
This is a photo of the ceiling in the cupboard that houses my (old, copper) hot water cylinder. I accidentally left my electric immersion heater on for a few hours the other day and when I got home the steam from the header tank boiling (thermostat must be broken) had brought the ceiling down. There appears to be three…

Post/pole sticking up obstructing driveway...
There is a post/pole type thing at the bottom of my driveway which obstructs the way that we can get cars into the drive. Technically, my driveway is big enough for 3 cars, but because we have to park sideways to avoid the pole, it can only fit two. I have decided to look into this as if I come to sell the house, along…

zone valves
We have a combi boiler and solar water heating. Zone valves were put in place by the installers (now out of business ) to enable mains cold water to be added to the solar tank water before it gets to the taps. These are not working properly , and apparently are likely to have been failing since they were put in, as we are…

Basic concrete base - compressing hardcore

Suspending heavy objects from ceiling
Bit of a DIY query here. I have a baby hammock that I want to attach to my ceiling. New Combi Boiler with 15mm gas supply
I'm a little concerned, I have always been advised that for a combi you need a 22mm gas supply. I've just had a worcester combi installed and the gas registered fitter located the 22mm in the ground but from the wall up it is 15mm. Therefore there is approx 1.5 meters where the gas supply is connected with a 15mm pipe. He…
