Water pipes

Please help. When I run a bath, and the tank in the loft starts to fill, the noise of the water going through the pipes is very loud throughout the house.
I had a new ballcock fitted in the loft tank last week by british gas ( as i am covered by them ). Do you think this is the reason, if so, what can I do about it?

They've probably left the stopcock open further than it was previously.
