We've recently put new flooring down in the hall in our home and would like new doors to match, the colour is "honey oak" and I've looked around your usual B&Q etc as well as online stores and the cheapest is £140 a door so we need 6, so thats £840!! For doors! Is this just the going…

Lightbulbs for bathroom - G50C?
Hi all, my bathroom was renovated 2 years ago and I had spotlights put in. I can't remember what rating exactly they were, but they were an IP rating that was safe to use. The lightbulb directly above the shower recently stopped working, and when I removed the bulb to note the type to replace it, the text said: G50C 240v…

PIR test of 1979 flat - what to expect?
We're currently looking to let my partner's one-bed flat out, and about to get things like the gas safety checks and PIR test arranged. The electrics are original from when the flat was built in 1979. I'm wondering what to expect from the PIR? My observations of what is there now are as follows:* The consumer unit has…

Garden fencing
Hi, I have a block of flats which have clear visibility of my whole garden, and privacy is my number one concern. I'm the only house in the street which has this problem because my house is on the corner of the street, meaning i'm the only house with the garden in good sight by the residents in the flats. I'm wondering…

Removing a whirlpool bath
Has anyone ever removed a whirlpool bath before? I'm looking to buy a property which has one of these fitted but it's old and I'd want to replace it with a regular bath. It's more the electrical side of things I'm bothered about. I guess the pumps are connected to the mains power somehow, so would I need an electrician in…

Hello I had a new carpet fitted on my stairs and upstairs landing on Friday. I was at work whilst the carpet fitter did the fitting, and he had left by the time I got home. The carpet looks fine. Gas Extraction
Hello all, I am in the process of looking at changing my kitchen. The only point I am not sure about is does the gas cooker/hob have to be situated on an outside wall for extraction/ventilation purposes or are there ways around it? I would like it on a non outside wall - would this be possible? Thanks

Hotpoint EW74 cooker
Does anyone know whether the dual grill element on this cooker can be removed by the two screws which appear to secure it to the back of the oven? Or are there captive nuts behind the oven back, which will fall off once the screws are undone, thus making the whole job more complicated? Thanks
