Woodstain is a lot less bother than painting, if you paint them you need to seal the wood and prime it and use exterior paint - personally i would just seal and stain them.Owed out = lots. :cool:0

do you mean you have stained & varnished window frames?Get some gorm.0 -
Widelats - to seal the windows would I use the clear primer/sealer?
Ormus - the windows are woodstained with something like Ronseal 5 year woodstain, it is flaking in parts and showing bare wood.Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Cant see any mention of what to do on ronseal site
http://www.ronseal.co.uk/products/5-year-woodstain
Does it not mention on the tin?
On amazon spec it states "
No Basecoats or primers required"

I think you just remove peeling stain, lightly sand down and clean and then brush it on. Best applying several thin coats rather than one thick coat0

You can just use a sealer for any knotting especially, was flaking on and around knots in the wood? Knots leak resins, you don't really need a primer if you are staining with ronseal stuff, but painting it you will need a primer i think. You could try the clear primer/sealer if you want to.Owed out = lots. :cool:0
