Can someone please let me know the best place to search for a plasterer in and around the Bellshill (Scotland) area. Also any idea about approx cost…

It is currently set to 6 The dial goes: 1 2 3 4 5 6 Off So what setting would give me the coldest…

Reputable overn cleaning service or easy cleaning tips please =)
When I moved into my flat two years ago, I was young and dumb, and let my oven get filthy inside. I decided to clean it myself and it looked no better, but did smell of chemicals so much so that I was paranoid about cooking food in it. I have back, hip and knee problems so I can't easily get down to give it a good scrub,…

Please give advice on this kitchen design.
Is there anything you would change about the layout and design of this kitchen? Across the other side of the room there is a huge larder unit, breakfast bar and more draws so there should be plenty of storage space. I'm just not sure about the glass cabinets or the layout of the doors, etc. Any advice would be appreciated.…

Has anyone regretted buying a Range Cooker?
We're in a bit of a quandary and wanted to know what others' experiences were. The builders are in moving walls to create a slightly bigger kitchen for us. It's still going to be on the bijou side with a door at either end, so we need to be thinking galley style. The total length will be about 3.3m (about 2.6 wide). We've…

Help re management company and electricty?
Hi all, We purchased an apartment in November and have since arranged to get our kitchen and bathroom upgraded. However, we have a problem, we contacted our eletrician to get them to install our electric oven and he is refusing, stating that the electrics are not up to current standards and therefore cannot legally carry…

Decking in the garden
Hi everyone. I'm looking at putting some decking in my garden. Approx 4 metres wide by 3 metres deep. My question isn't so much about the cost but more about things I need to be aware of. I'm going to be getting someone in to do it but I want to make sure I don't forget anything. There is already some decking right outside…

taps on small cloakroom basin
I'm trying to find a tool that allows me to undo a plastic straight tap connector. Its the nut attached to the tap, and not the backnut that is between the tap and the basin. I've tried the following but too big... basin wrench and adustable basin wrench. Would a tap backnut spanner work on the plastic tap connector?…

House alarm but have a dog!
We would like to install a house alarm but we have a dog! She is quite good at barking and would deter any burgler I hope. However if they offered her food and a belly rub she would let them in! she sleeps downstairs at night or occasionally on the top step of the stairs! Is this possible?

Blocked loo?
Sorry for the unsavoury topic  we have 3 loos in our house (i know, posh eh?) one downstairs and two up. Over the last few days when we flush any of them the water level rises alarmingly towards the rim before gradually subsiding and it doesn't always take any (ahem) "matter" with it (not that posh then! :p ). THe…

Scrap metal
Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I couldn't think of any other section to put it in. I have just dismantled our old bed ready for the new one coming and it weighs a fair bit. I was wondering if it was worth weighing it in for scrap and if so what's the best way of going about weighing in scrap…

thinning water based gloss
I have read conflicting advice online about how to do this. I have those white wood effect glass panel doors and they are looking a bit scruffy so I am going to paint them before I put my house up for sale. I bought dulux water based gloss that dries in 30 minutes as it is apparently thinner than other glosses. I tried to…

New Extension Help
Hi Folks I'm hoping that I can get guidance from here to keep me on the straight and narrow and hopefully update everyone on progress throughout this thread rather than open a new one each time. I have just had an offer on a property accepted but that's where the easy bit in my opinion finishes. The property itself had…
