Insulation Bay in Bedroom

I have no insulation in the bay of my bedroom. Can someone tell me what insulation I need to buy from B&Q or Wickes - and how I go about doing it.

Thx Amanda:o

Are you taking off the internal plasterboard/ lath and plaster?

If so you can buy Celotex/Kingspan board in the appropriate thickness and cut to size to fit between the wooden studs, replace the plaster board and skim.

Celotex/Kingspan is twice as good at insulating than rock wool type products, expanded polystyrene falls between the two.

At the moment the plaster is fine. The wall at the moment has tongue and groove onto it but we are losing loads of heat in the winter in the bay!

Can we buy anything that will insulate over the existing plaster or do we have to take the lot off and then put the Celotex on, plaster board and skim?

The T & G is on the outside then?

If so you can take that off and put in the Celotex and put it back.

You can line internally with celotex (you can get it already stuck to Plaster Board for this purpose) but you will lose space you should put at least 50mm of celotex.

Plasterboard with polystyrene attached and line from the inside, remove plaster/render first though.

No T & G on the internal wall. So can I put Celotex over the existing plaster - would this insulate the bay? Not bothered about losing a bit of space the bedroom is quite big anyway and very very cold of a winter!

So the T & G is over the plaster? if the plaster is well stuck then it can stay. But i expect the T & G is hiding dodgy plaster.
