Fridge temperature settings

Does anyone know the general rule for temp settings in a fridge.
Our fridge at work sucks, it really doesn't keep anything cold and I am throwing stuff away all the time but I am not sure what settings it should be set to.
It is currently set to 6
The dial goes:
1
2
3
4
5
6
Off
So what setting would give me the coldest temperature ??
It is a Proline fridge, can't find any model number or make anywhere

The higher the number you set on the dial the lower the temperature in the fridge mine goes from 1 to 5 and I set mine at between 4 and 5 which makes my fridge really cold for my beer (about 3 degrees). My fridge is a beko0

Sounds like it is cream crackered to me.
Get a cheap fridge thermometer & check it ??
Or why not unplug it & have a look round the back.
Depending on what type of fridge it is clean everything you can see with a soft brush & a vacuum cleaner.
The most common cause of fridges & freezers not working properley is the build up of dust & debris in the cooling parts.

It has been cleaned recently as I was finding stuff dated back to February and even a pot of soup from November. I put a note on it saying it was disgusting and needed to be cleaned. The cleaners eventually cleaned it. Even milk that had 3 or 4 days left is going off early.
I think it is cream crackered as there's just no temp change at all.0 -
No I mean clean round the back of the fridge in the 'workings' not the inside !!
Does not matter how dirty the inside is it will still be cold.0 -
hmmm ok not thought of that, ah well there are maintenance guys that get paid to do that sort of thing, I'll wait for them to come down.
Thanks all0 -
I am throwing stuff away all the time but
I do hope that no one uses these bags in your fridge !
