Scrap metal

Not sure if this is the right place to post this question but I couldn't think of any other section to put it in.

I have just dismantled our old bed ready for the new one coming and it weighs a fair bit. I was wondering if it was worth weighing it in for scrap and if so what's the best way of going about weighing in scrap metal?

We weigh in scrap and batteries 2 or 3 times a year and depening on the rates get quite a return from it, but I leave the OH and we do large quanities (farmer - finds out about lots of scrap!)

EDIT - my answer was of no help to you!! i think it totally depends on the type of metal and weigh as to what/if you get much from it. We wait till we've got a trailor load before we weigh anything in otherwise OH doesn't feel it's worth it. We take it to a scrap yard and they weigh the trailer going in, then leaving, then pay up according to what we weighed in.

Thats what I thought but I know nothing about weighing in. I might just leave it on the drive in the morning and i'm sure it'll be gone when I get back. That's what happened with the old dishwasher.

Light Oron (which an old bedstead will be cl,assed as) is currently worth about £120 per tonne, so 12p per kilo. It may weigh 30 kilos, so be worth £3 - £4.

Better to leave it on the driveway.
