thinning water based gloss

I have read conflicting advice online about how to do this.
I have those white wood effect glass panel doors and they are looking a bit scruffy so I am going to paint them before I put my house up for sale. I bought dulux water based gloss that dries in 30 minutes as it is apparently thinner than other glosses.
I tried to paint one of the doors but the gloss is still too thick and is obscuring the wood grain. So I am looking to thin it down just so it gives a glossy glaze rather than any depth of coverage.
Logic tells me to water down a water based paint with water but is this ok?

Never in debt, the top link is the one. Even from those links it doesn't say if it can be thinned with water. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
