Anyone have anything good to say about DFS?
We've gone ahead and purchased a couple of sofas from one of DFS's never-ending sales - but I've read nothing but bad reviews about their service and quality of furniture. However, it seemed like a reasonable deal compared to what else is on the market, and there don't seem to be any furniture dealers that don't have…

Light wiring question
Stupid question of the year. I'm just about to replace the lampholder on my ceiling light. I have 2 wires to attach as per diagram. However were I screw the wires to the lampholder, it doesn't say which wire to attach to which? Can I safely assume that it doesn't matter which wire goes where?? Thanks

Laminate question
I wonder whether anyone can help me. When we moved in just over 6 years ago, we put down laminate flooring in the kitchen. It was expensive stuff as it is a large area, and it was supposed to be 90% waterproof, so it was suitable for a kitchen. After about 6 months, it began springing up in one place, and after…

Crumbling brickwork at back of the garage?
We have noticed that the bottom two rows of brickwork on the back garage wall are crumbling in places. When I say garage, it's actually a room that used to be the garage but the back half was converted. It's a small area about 3 ft wide. is this a major problem, or could it be remedied easily by a brickie? Thanks

After sanding the floorboards
Is there any way we can get 3 different types of plank to match colour by staining rather than painting? There's the orginial oak (I think) which is a lovely blush brown colour, then there are paler planks that were put down by the developers , and there are the very pale pine planks we put down yesterday to replace an…

Double-width 3-gang 2-way light switch?
In our downstairs room, we have a 3-gang 2-way dimmer fitted into a dual gang back box. I want to replace this with switches so I can then fit cheap energy saving bulbs. Ideally, I would like this to be a direct swap, but all the 3-gang light switches I can find fit into a single gang back box. I'd prefer not to use a…

Johnston and Starley Warm Air Heating
Hello ... we have this in our house and it is absolutely fine - no problems at all. When it eventually packs in, we…
