Light wiring question

Stupid question of the year. I'm just about to replace the lampholder on my ceiling light. I have 2 wires to attach as per diagram.

However were I screw the wires to the lampholder, it doesn't say which wire to attach to which? Can I safely assume that it doesn't matter which wire goes where??
Thanks

I've just isolated the light and removed the fitting. There are 3 wires.
Blue, Green and Brown. Now I have no idea what to fit. Help:)Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Just use the brown and the blue. Cut the green off short and do not use it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Will it be okay just to cover the green (I'm assuming this is the earth) with electrical tape?Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0
