Hi all
Hope someone can advise me. I'm planning a new kitchen and would like to put in two built in ovens side-by-side under a worktop with hob on top. The ovens I am planning on are 2 single built in ovens rather than a double oven. So I just want to know if there is any reason why this can not be done? maybe ventilation issues or something?
Just want to know if this idea is possible before I do any more planning!
Thanks in advance

Electric? No problem as long as the feed is up to it or you can easily run in a second one.0

Why cant you fit a double RANGEMASTER? My friend has just had one fitted in her new kitchen, looks brilliant!"If you are going through Hell, keep going" - Winston Churchill0

Hi yes neglected to say they would both be electric.
Thanks GreenSheep think the feed should be up to it as we have just had the whole house rewired.
Aspiring Writer- had looked at a range cooker but I really fancy having pyrolitic cleaning cause I like being lazy!!! and have better things to do than clean the oven!!!! :rotfl:Unfortunately there are very few range cookers with pyrolitic cleaning and the only ones I can find I are only on one oven- oh and they cost as much as the re-wire did! ..... But can get a couple of built in ones and a hob for about the same price as the range I was looking at- seems like the perfect idea.
Anyone got a pyrolitic oven by the way? I would love to hear any comments on them.0 -
Your house would have been re-wired for one oven.
Don't rely that it is up to the job.
Infact, you could find the wiring isn't even up to the whole of one cooker...
You see your electrician may have rewired to the minimum the regulatons allow. This doesn't mean he did anything wrong or a bad job. This is what is required, legal and recommended.
The minimum the regulations allow is 70% of what is called 'diversity' on that circuit.
Meaning that they assume you will only pull 70% of the current your oven can - ie. they assume you will never use all 4 hobs, both ovens, the plate warmer, etc. at once.
I would suggest you call whoever rewired the house and ask them first.
If they seem a little less than completely on the ball (or legit) get a second opinion.
A lot of poorer electricains will just run in the size cable they know to do for all the house.
I don't know it off the top of my head but I know a lot of house bashers have a rhyme reminding them what size cable to use... in the same way you learn a poem to spell 'b.e.c.a.u.s.e.'!

The regulations require installations to be adequate for their intended purpose and for good workmanship to be used ....GreenSheep wrote: »but I know a lot of house bashers have a rhyme reminding them what size cable to use... in the same way you learn a poem to spell 'b.e.c.a.u.s.e.'!
That's really worrying. (a) they should know, and (b) if they don't know, then someone who does know should have written it down for them in a spec.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
Yes you can fit two single ovens side by side in two built under oven housing units however just checked your electrics. Just one other think it will look good0
