Hello ... we have this in our house and it is absolutely fine - no problems at all. We have our boiled serviced every year and was told by our engineer (who in fact services the whole street and is a nice man) that it probably only has another couple of years (it is about 25 years old).
When it eventually packs in, we would like to keep warm air - does anyone know how much I am looking at for a new J & S boiler. I live in a three bed detatched.
Thank you.

I have one of these units and it is brilliant. It needed some work doing on it originally and I spoke to J & S direct. They were very helpful and directed me to a registered gas company in my area who dealt with their equipment.
Give J & S a ring...

Hello, I also agree. I am happy with my unit - even though it is old. We also had a new part for our unit this year and I know that our gas man got it from J & S. Obviously I don't want to have to buy a new one until it completely breaks but just wondered how much a new one would be.
I know that some people aren't particular complementary about warm air but like you, we are really happy with ours.

Why? Parts seem still obtainable , can you ask him the reason for a 25 year life span .
Thinking mine is well over thirty years old , still working fine.0 -
Hello, he didn't really give a reason - I think I just kind of put him on the spot - when we needed a new part he ordered from J & S and it was delivered to him the next day.
Just wondering really how much it will cost to replace when it does go...Mortgage FreeSave £5,000 in 2020[CENTER:j0 -

You will find that those who aren't particularly complimentary have never actually seen it, let alone used it - it's a bit of "Fred down the pub said..........".

Not sure how old mine is. The house was built in early 70s, the original installation had gas warm air and electric immersion for hot water.
At some stage, early 90s?, a new warm air unit was put in with an integral gas water heater.0 -
I have the same J&S system and I love it. Almost instant heat when it's switched on, no radiators taking up wall space. I also find it competitive in cost against rads and night storage heaters I've had in previous homes.0

My only problem with the hot air system
When Buncefield 'blewup' few years ago . the shock wave sent all the dust in the system into the rest of the house . :eek:0 -
