New combi boiler quotes

Hi,

Just outside London and got two quotes to replace a back boiler with a combi. 24kw Vaillant boiler on both quotes plus a power flush and thermostatic valves.

Quote 1 £1800

Quote 2 as quote one plus a magnaclean £3600

To me quote 1 seems too cheep and quote 2 a little pricy! Can anyone give an idea of how much this should cost?

Cheers

I would be very wary of quote 1 - sounds way too cheap.

I have had the exact same done at a cost of £3200 from local plumber in North Yorkshire about 15 months ago.

I did think it was! Will get a third quote for comparison. If 3200 in yorks 3600 probably isn't bad for greater London!

As a very rough guide I would say a standard BBU and cylinder out being replaced with a 28/30Kw combi would be about £2300-£2400 + VAT.

I would think twice before having a 24Kw combi fitted.

Good morning: the conversion of an open vented,BBU system to a sealed system is a labour intensive job if done correctly. Quote 2 sounds near the mark but wouldn't fit a 24 kW combi....more importantly is a combi suitable for your property i.e. have the RGIs checked your mains pressure/flow, how many bathrooms/showers? For that money the quote should also include a magnetic filter, a scale inhibitor and a wireless programmable roomstat.

    More advice here.

    Cheers,

The quoting plumber tested the presure with some sort of device and it was fine. The flow rate isn't good enough for a megaflow as the property has an old lead pipe supply.

The 3600 quote does include a magnaflow which I assume is the magnetic filter you mentioned?

We just have one bathroom so a Combi is fine for out needs. The plumber said we wouldn't notice the difference between the 24kW and 27kW

Like I say will get one or two more quotes for comparison.
