The bathroom window is above the bath, which has an electric shower fitted at one end. When the shower is being used the curtains become drenched! I think they do vertical blinds in a waterproof material. Can anyone offer any advice about the best firms to contact or any other suggestions about what to put up at the…

Unwanted Pond/Tadpoles/Goldfish
Hello people I have a small pond in the garden of the house I have just moved into. The garden is a bombsite and the pond has been left to fester somewhat whilst people moved out/I moved in etc etc. Anyway, to cut a long story short, it looks like there are THOUSANDS of tadpoles in there. The 2 goldfish look very fat and I…

New build - planning permission
We have recently moved into a new build and we have a corner plot which is very near the through road. The house is also slightly below the level of the pavement. There are many children on the estate who feel it is their right to use our garden as a path. As a consequence we decided to build a fence around the front…

Making the house bigger - somehow.
We have a 2 bedroom victorian terraced house with a third bedroom in the attic. The attic is quite small with velux windows. The second bedroom is only big enough for a bed which is going to prove difficult over the next few weeks as we move our toddler out of his cot. The cellar is damp and mouldy and can't go in it…

gas fire eyesore

Cooling Fans
Hello everyone The recent spell of warm weather has prompted me to plan ahead and purchase a fan for the bedroom. Does anyone have any advice/recommendations for something that is effective and not too noisy? How do tower fans differ from desktop ones? Also, do they use a tremendous amount of electricity? Thanks Dee
