Creeping Ivy?
Hi, I have what I think is called a creeping ivy in my garden (see them alot around train stations and they have white trumpet flowers on them). It is winding itself around all of the trees and bushes in my garden and getting under the shed. I have tried pulling it up but it keeps on breaking and coming back. Is there…

Cost of watering the garden?
We have just had a new lawn put down and the gardener has told us to water it for an hour every day (not sure for how long). He has said we don't have a hose pipe ban in our area. We are very conservative with water as it's a valuable comodity and I'm struggling a bit morally about doing this. I was also wondering how much…

Log cabin treatment?
I have nearly finished building my new log cabin (see why it's not finished yet on the vent board under shedstore.co.uk) and my thoughts have turned to what to paint it with. The standard fence paints are a no no as they come in dark colours designed to mask rough sawn wood and would make a beautiful building just look…

Drains - is it unusual not to have a manhole cover?
Hello, we're buying a house and can't find a manhole cover on the property. It's a victorian terrace. The waste pipes etc. are at the back out the house. The back garden steps upwards as it goes away from the property. There is a manhole in the front area of a house two or three doors down - is this likely to be…

Hi, I have bought some steel garden planters, they are in a black finish but everytime it rains on them, or I water the plants in them, it leaves horrible white water marks all over them, hence they only look great when its raining! I think that giving them a coat of some sort of varnish would help keep them looking shiny…
