Can I mow damp grass?

I have been waiting for days for my husband to mow, and he hasn't found the time.
We are going on holiday in the early hours of tomorrow morning, and the grass is soooo high.
Is it possible to mow on damp grass? I have a flymo. Am I endangering myself if I do it?

ive cut damp grass before as the top looked dry but as it was so long the bottom was still damp.. yes it can dig up the lawn but i found as it was damp it was clogging up the blades more and more and took me ages as kept stopping to unclog..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

Damp grass is ripped out a lot easier than it is cut, it can leave bald patches in your lawn,I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I think you are not supposed to as it can damage the grass.
I have done it a few times in the past and the only thing I found was that the lawnmower clogged up.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Quick Grabbit, Freebies, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning and the UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.

Just had the same dilemma but went for it,dandelions and all.Made sure my curcuit breaker was connected,as i always do.I cut the grass despite the mower struggling and then raked the cuttings up.The grass underneath was dead but it's picking up now.0

Set the mower fairly high to start with and mow the lawn... Then do it again with the blades lowerI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

also i would be very careful because you have electric mower there is always achance of electric shock. just make sure the the grass is not tooooo damp happy mowing :rotfl:0

It shouldn't be a problem with a Flymo.
Your post reminded me of my late mother who always used to mow the grass wearing wellington boots and rubber gloves for fear of electrocution!Stompa0 -
My husband often does and hasn't gone up in a puff of smoke.
Yet :rotfl:
He does moan about it clogging though.
I would echo coolagarry - set the blade higher than normal if it's really long.0
