Painting Fire Surround

We've recently moved into a new house and the previous owners decided to paint the whole house in magnolia, using the same paint on wood, walls doors and fire surround!!!

We've managed to repaint the walls, wood etc but have no idea what to paint the fire surround with???

Does anyone have any idea what type of paint to use?

Thanks in advance.

Had the same problem in my house and my decorator brother cleaned and sanded my wooden fire surround before painting it twice with grey undercoat. He then applied zebo grate blacking, let it dry and buffed it up with a soft cloth. It now looks like it is metal and i am well chuffed with it 'cos i was going to bin it.
