Faulty Microwave

Hi Guys
To cut a long story short, the door on my 13 month old microwave refuses to open. It is a panasonic and was £115 so I am reluctant to just throw it away and buy another.
Please could someone let me know what my rights are regarding repair/replacement and how I should go about this.
Cheers

Probably cheaper to buy a replacement, once you start having problems is it worth repairing, I think generally with Microwaves it’s cheaper to buy a replacement unless you have an expensive model ?

Take it back to where you bought it from and don't get into dispute re the warranty, warranties are in addition to statutory rights and paying £115 for a microwave, it should last a lot longer than 13 months,Sale of Goods Act applies, they should repair it,as it can't be much of a problem.greenstick wrote:Hi Guys

Thanks
I've just rung the store I purchased it from.
The sales guy I spoke to advised they could arrange a chargeable repair if I took it back to them, I advised I would expect a Panasonic microwave to last more than 13 months and wouldn't therefore expect to have to pay for the repair.
He accepted what I was saying and advised me to return it to them and have a chat with the manager.
I'm going in tomorrow, lets hope the manager knows his stuff.
I wonder if the chips will still be worth eating???0 -
Our Panasonic microwave recently packed up after 2.5 years. They wanted £129 to repair it when a brand new equivalent is £149.
So obviously we went for a new one.0 -

Personly I would have pushed for a free repair, SoGA still applies, they should not pack up after 2½ years, we have a Panasonic and it is still going after 8 yearsDon`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
Thanks for your help.
Microwave collected from store today with new door mechanism and all working.
Sadly, no chips!0
