Been living at our current house for 2 years and never been able to get a decent picture from terrestial TV.
As I'm think of getting rid of sky+ and changing to a HDD recorder how much roughly to get a new aerial fitted, I guees it would have to be digital?
Thanks

A lot depends on your reception area, have you considered DIY

Does a DIY installation in the loft (which I could just about manage) work OK ?
All the cowboys round here want ~£200 to put up a new aerial on the roof, which seems well out of order considering the retail prices on the Maplin page.0 -

There is an aerial on the roof but the reception is awful0

Whether an loft aerial will work or not depends very much on your location. We have one that works fine even though some of our neighbours have aerials on high masts attached to chimneys. Its of course vital that it is directed properly. We had problems when we switched to freeview and I thought I would need a new aerial but our local aerial man came and adjusted the direction with some instrument or other and we got a perfect picture. The direction finding had to be finely tuned though, an inch or two out of true and the picture is hopeless.0

A lot of people blame the aerial when they have water in the co-ax cable !0 -
The signal on my telly is bad despite replacing the aerial and cable. I got hold of one of those signal boosters and now the picture is perfect.0

To get a good signal with my free view I had to go out and buy new arial, new digi cable, the old one worked in the loft but the new one only worked outside and I am on a hill with full reception but what difference, same with the DAB radio will work perfectly up stairs but not in the living room. Location Location Location it seems.
They say you might need a new arial on the box but it's all the other bits and pieces that go with it which need to be taken into account.I used to be confused, now I just don't understand
