How do I open Henry (driving me mad!)

i have an old Numatic henry which is great for cleaning the car. I was given him around a year ago. He desperately needs emptying and after hours of frustration I just can't figure how to get the lid off!
Ive unclipped the 2 metal hooks on either side. By holding the black handle on top I can twist the lid about an inch to the left then an inch back to the right. There appears to be no more play than this.
Does it open anticlockwise/clockwise, is is a turn then lift off? Does the black middle rim come off with the top or just the red upper part?
Anyone have/had one of these? HELP?

Its a cracking little hoover and very powerful and I don't want to have to bin it

Unless they have changed it in the last few months it should just be a case of unclipping the clips & lifting off. Give it a good pull.0

It's possible there is no bag inside your Henry - so make sure you open it outside!"Cheap", "Fast", "Right" -- pick two.0

Thanks! there is on bag inside I do know that, I tried shaking some of the junk out through the hose attachment bit, got a bit out but its just one big junk ball in there!
I'd say this one is at least 5 years old, so if the old method was unclip then pull the lid off i'll give that a go. The handle is a bit loose so don't want to break it lol!0 -
