Credit balance from closed Utility Point account
Hello I wonder if anyone has been in the same situation, who may be able to provide some clarification? I help a neighbour with her energy accounts. She moved from Utility Point to Neon Reef for electric and Zog for gas on the 1st September 2021. Utility Point then went into administration on the 17th September. At some…

What happens if you can't afford to pay?
I'm concerned coming towards this winter what happens if I can't pay. I'm already struggling to afford my £228 DD and it will go up in October. I'm assuming that they would force me to have a prepayment meter put in, but what happens when you can't put money into it? Do you just go without? What happens when you don't put…

Supplier not providing invoices (on a smart meter)
I'm with So energy and they called me Nov 21 as my fixed tarif was ending in Feb, Offered a new tariff fixed for 2 yrs from end of Feb. Debits to go from £190 to £430, saw the advice here but wanted to hedge my bets. My issue is they have not given me a bill since Dec 31st. So I am now £1550 in credit, but with 4 months of…

Utilita smart meter
After having my latest bill through which told me that I had used £66 of electric I had a live chat discussion with Utilita who told me that everything was in order and that I had been charged for my usage. One small issue. I haven't been at the property since 09/04 and have barely used any electricity since except when…

SO ENERGY- REMOVED ABILITY TO ADJUST DIRECT DEBIT ONLINE!!
I wanted to reduce my energy direct debit as 1. I was luckily in credit by quite a bit and they hadn't taken this into consideration when working out my new direct debit 2. I'd rather pay the energy company the minimum I can to pay my bills but not line their pockets with my money. When I logged on to my account, in the…

Eligibility for £150 council tax rebate.
I'm getting quite confused as to whether I will receive the council tax rebate. I live in an annexe which is totally separate from the main house (athough it is owned by a relative), my own door etc and when it was built the council came around and banded it, so I pay my own council tax and bills. I am on a low wage and…

What are you doing to lower your energy bills?
I have 2 fridge freezers for years, but in view of the high energy prices, I have now moved all the cold food into one and switched the second one off. I plan to use the second one to store items that do not need refrigeration e.g. tomatoes, peppers, eggs, butter and root veg. What are you doing to lower your energy bills?

Early exit from Fuel deal
EDF have offered us a long term deal until 2024 of £208 per month but has an early exit fee of £300 as apposed to the normal £60 odd that Martin has mentioned in his videocast. Is this still worth doing please?

Direct debits
Ever since I joined Ovo, with a fixed rate contract, it's been a battle to stop them increasing my direct debit. My actual usage is less than I estimated when I joined them so I should get a decrease, not an increase. To help control the direct debt I would like Energy companies to print on the bill the estimated usage…

How to find out which energy supplier has the lowest standing charge.
Whenever my energy contract runs out and I have to search for a new one, I always try and find the supplier with the lowest standing charges. There does not seem to be any search engine which will tell me this information. I have to trawl through all the different suppliers and their different tariffs to try and arrive at…

British Gas Electricity Standing Charge
My new standard tariff with British Gas is showing 51.626p per day standing charge (payment by monthly DD). Ofgem cap , according to their website is 45p. Anyone know why this is so different. Regional variations maybe ? ( I'm based in the SW) or are British Gas overcharging? I've checked with Br Gas they say it's set by…

Together Energy to British Gas
I received a bill when providing a reading just before the price rise. I paid this bill but in two stages the bill was reverted and the money I paid counted as credit. I am now concerned that British Gas intend to levy an increased charge on some of the usage in the previous period. Naturally I have kept the paperwork as a…

Ovo
Can anyone please advise? Got automatically swapped to Ovo in November 21, when SSE sold out. I had a bill from Ovo in March, estimated, but the bill stated 'meter readings'. I gave my readings on 1/4/22 up until 31/3/22, and received nothing, so I called them, and was promised a bill. Nothing appeared, so I phoned again,…

UNEXPLAINED ELECTICITY METER READING SPIKE
I contacted Utilita last week on behalf of my mother to sort out her electricity bill. I provided a daytime reading on 31st March of 1332 units. By May 3rd the meter reading had spiked to 3811 - an increase of 2500 units in under 5 weeks! - and I was asked by Customer Services to provide an image of this reading, which I…

Beware scottish power estimating reading for 31st March
Beware, just got my bill from scottish power and they estimated the reading for 31st march, even though I have a smart meter. This has meant a slight overcharge as too many units are on the new tarriff. Seems a bit sly to me.

Moved to British Gas but numbers don’t add up
Hi I was a Bristol energy customer for gas and elec, and was moved across to British Gas at the end of January. I have been doing monthly meter readings and have used the British Gas app to log these, I logged on to the app a couple of weeks ago and my gas usage was well off approx 10x actually usage. British Gas sorted…

British Gas Homecare excess for callout
I had a leak in my kitchen which we think was from the radiator, which magically stopped all of a sudden the day before the engineer turned up from Dyno. We thought we would get them to come out and have a look but he couldn't find any issue so was gone within 5-10 mins. Now I've had an invoice from British Gas despite no…
