Eligibility for £150 council tax rebate.
I'm getting quite confused as to whether I will receive the council tax rebate. I live in an annexe which is totally separate from the main house (athough it is owned by a relative), my own door etc and when it was built the council came around and banded it, so I pay my own council tax and bills. I am on a low wage and get topped up with working tax credits and housing benefit. Will I get the rebate?

If you pay council tax, and this is your only home, and it's Band D or below, then yes you should. What makes you think you might not?N. Hampshire, he/him. Because I live in an Annexe belonging to my cousin who lives in the main house and I'm not sure the rules are the same. I thought I read somewhere that people in an Annexe owned by family won't receive it.0

If you receive a separate council tax bill for the annexe you will get the £150, if you don't then you won't.3

People who rent their homes are entitled to the payment just the same as homeowners. It's paying the council tax bill and the property banding that counts.aggietrac said:Because I live in an Annexe belonging to my cousin who lives in the main house and I'm not sure the rules are the same. My guess is that what you read relates to annexes that are still counted as part of a larger property for council tax purposes.2 -
