How to find out which energy supplier has the lowest standing charge.

Whenever my energy contract runs out and I have to search for a new one, I always try and find the supplier with the lowest standing charges. There does not seem to be any search engine which will tell me this information. I have to trawl through  all the different suppliers and their different tariffs to try and arrive at an answer. Has anybody found a supplier with a lower standing charge than 35p for gas or 45p for electric?

Even if you find one, they probably won't accept you as a new customer....

Utilita offer a no standing charge tariff but load up the first 1-2kWh

Depends how low usage you are.

Go to one of the comparison sites and put in an annual consumption of eg. 10kWh for electricity.
The cheapest result will be the one with the lowest standing charge.
Then do the same with gas.

I would have thought by now all the standing charges are approx the same. £3.33 a week electric  (48 p a day ) and £1.77  28p a day )a week gas .Bit more or less depending on area .Switching market has ended now more or less unless people go to more expensive  suppliers fixed rates.

The comparison sites let you put 1kWh in as your annual use. That will give you the results you desire.

However comparing just standing charge alone may lead to you paying more for your energy, do a full comparison with accurate annual use figures.

It's a moot point anyway at the moment as unless you're still on a good fix the best tariff to be on is the SVT which will be pretty much identical across all suppliers.
