Seemingly crazy SSE gas bill.
Hello! I live in student flat with 2 other guys in a town in Scotland. We were prepared for the unpleasant rise in gas prices but well, not prepared for what happened when we submitted our most recent meter reading. Our last set of meter reading numbers (approximately 5 weeks ago) on the SSE website were 5560 (with a zero…

Windfall tax oil /gas companies
Wouldn't a windfall tax, imposed by government on oil and gas companies simply increase the price paid by consumers?

Smart meter not compatible
I’m a bit confused with EDF as they fitted new ‘smart’ gas and electric meters in March but only the gas meter is actually working as a smart meter. I’m getting not display at all via the IHD. After many phone calls to EDF they now say that my home isn’t compatible to electric smart metering. I don’t understand how it can…

British Gas Smart Reader
We have been tracking our energy bills via our smart reader, making big changes to what we use to reduce our costs since our tariff ended. However, when logging onto the website today, our smart reader reading was incorrect. For example, on May 19th, it read £9.32 but the website confirmed we spend £15.52 on 57K energy.…

Price increased on my prepayment gas meter before my contracted fixed tariff ended!
Hello everyone, I hope someone can give me some advice... I have the old-style gas and electric prepayment meters with EDF and have a fixed price until the 31st of May, my gas tariff was 2.802p per kWh and Daily SC 36.19p. I took Martin Lewis' advice and topped as much as I could over the last six weeks and kept a check on…

Contract renewal
My fixed energy deal with Scottish Power ends on the 30th June. They have offered me a new deal on their flexi tariff either for one or two years however with an exit fee of £150 per energy. This seems exorbitant to me - has anyone any views on this? Thanks

Smart Meter WAN issue
I have a Landis+Gyr E470 (SMETS2) smart meter (as well as the G470 for gas). I use Octopus as my electric supplier and noticed that from the 9th May (1am) the online account does not show usage data. I contacted them earlier this week and they said they "have raised a smart meter health check to be run on your smart…

Pets and the Energy Crisis
Sorry, if this is a strange question but i am serious. I have 1 x domestic short haired cat, she's all black and rather large. She sleeps at night, in her own pet igloo, which has a little cushion in it and i put an old towel (of ours which we no longer use) on that cushion. Naturally the towels get rather hairy especially…

British Gas - tariff wrong, what can I do?
I signed up for a 1-year Fixed Tariff with British Gas last September (basically it meant I would stay on the variable rate as at September 2021 until September 2022), they sent an acknowledgement email stating that it wouldn't show on my account straightaway but would be sorted by April 2022. On 1st April I went onto the…

Eonnext smart meter
Hi, has anyone had a problem getting a smart meter from Eonnext? We used to have storage heaters and a E7 electric meter but recently changed to a gas boiler so no longer using the E7 as before. Spoke with an advisor at Eonnext and they moved us to combined readings for the electric and said we should have a smart meter.…

In this property listing picture, what kind of meter is this? Dumb, or smart? The landlord isn't
This is the image I can see from the listing. I have no idea exactly what it is. Long shot, but can anybody identify it? Would just like to know if I would need to go to a shop to top up, or be able to do it all online.

Gas meter box removal - can it be done?
We got an ASHP! We love it. Does anyone know if all the gas equipment outside the door can be removed? I'd like to plant in that space. Supplier is too slow to respond.

Electric meter help
Hi all, I'm new to MSE and I’m looking for some advice. I topped up my old style pre-payment meter as advised on the money show before the prices went up but now my energy supplier, Utilita, have sent me a letter stating: “Utilita has reviewd your account and it appears your electricity meter may have developed a fault,…

Really awful service from Bulb
Has anyone else noticed the quality of Customer Service from Bulb has absolutely nosedived? I moved my gas supply to Octopus back in March. Bulb failed to issue a bill within 6 weeks, so I complained... I've subsequently been issued with 4 bills, none of which have had an accurate closing meter reading and closing date. I…

PastDue and E-on
In September 21 I moved out of a property at that time I was with igloo energy but the account was passed to eon because of igloo going out of business. I submitted my final meter reading to igloo and was in credit to the tune of 35 quid. Eon then proceeded to send me estimated bills for the property I had moved out from.…

Utility Point credit refund
Has anyone managed to get a credit refund? We moved house away from Utility Point in September last year prior to their collapse. In Credit with Bulb? Help!
I’m just wondering if I can get some help with where to go from here. I moved in to my new house last September and started as a new customer with Bulb. They sent me a statement and made my bill £70 per month as we’re in a tiny new build, we’ve fortunately hardly had to use the heating. I have the app and kept track of my…

So Energy
Martin opened a topic about energy firms and setting high direct debits and he mentioned 3 companies as I remember but not my company which is So energy. On the day he opened the subject up I logged into my account and indeed the company had doubled my monthly payment. I went into the section that allows you to adjust and…
