Smart meter not compatible

I’m a bit confused with EDF as they fitted new ‘smart’ gas and electric meters in March but only the gas meter is actually working as a smart meter. I’m getting not display at all via the IHD. After many phone calls to EDF they now say that my home isn’t compatible to electric smart metering. I don’t understand how it can work for the gas but not the electric. The house is less than 20 years old, both meters are outside and within 1.5m of each other and I don’t have solar panels.

@Robin is correct.
The commissioning of smart meters is far from simple as this Blog illustrates:

Only your supplier can determine which, if any, of the processes have gone awry. It could be something as simple as a missing meter security certificate. This bespoke certificate is applied to your meter by the supplier. The meter will not respond to instructions to send data unless the certificate is in place.
FWiW, I do not rate the EDF smart meter team very highly. I had a perfectly serviceable gas smart meter when I was with Zog Energy. When I was SoLR’d to EDF, my gas meter was apparently unreachable. It mysteriously came back to life when I transferred to Octopus and has been providing 30 minute data ever since.
