In this property listing picture, what kind of meter is this? Dumb, or smart? The landlord isn't

This is the image I can see from the listing. I have no idea exactly what it is.

Long shot, but can anybody identify it?

Would just like to know if I would need to go to a shop to top up, or be able to do it all online.

Just realized the title cut off.

The full title is "In this property listing picture, what kind of meter is this? Dumb, or smart? The landlord isn't back until late next week and wondering if anybody could identify it."

It looks like a smart meter to me. Who is the energy supplier for the property, do you know?

You can top them up online but you'll need to know who is supplying the energy. The landlord should have told you who the supplier is. Unless you are expected to sign up to a supplier yourself?

Just as an example, there's some information in the following link for people who are British Gas customers -

    https://www.britishgas.co.uk/help-and-support/bills-and-payments/paying-your-energy-top-up-smart

Seems strange for your landlord not to give all the relevant information for the property. Which looks very nice, btw.

It's not a meter, it's either a thermostat or an IHD.

Whether said IHD (if it is) is connected to a smart meter now or not is anyone's guess.

Looks like a programmable thermostat although the picture isn't clear enough to determine exactly what it is.

It wont be a smart meter because a smart meter has to be connected to the mains cabling where it enters the house. It might be an IHD which is a display associated with a smart meter, but again the piccy isn't good enough to identify it.

If you can I would ask whether the flat/building is on commercial or domestic tariff(s). If you trawl the forum you will find posts where people have moved only to find that they are paying commercial rates which aren't capped like domestic & the standing charges alone could be £s per day.
