Shell Energy Smart Meter
Looking for some advice on what to do with a disagreement i got into with Shell regarding smart meters. In February i phoned them up saying i wasn't sure the readings on my IHD were accurate as they differed from the meters in the box. They said they would send an engineer out to have a look. The engineer came and replaced…

Orbit energy
Can anyone give me advice regarding Credit that I had with Orbit Energy. I switched energy provider on 1/10/2021 from Orbit Energy to Sainsbury Energy (eon next). I received a final bill from Orbit Energy on 16/10/2021 showing £510.09 in credit. It said that a refund would be made within 10 days. I am still waiting for a…

Advice on EDF Energy tariff hike
Hi All I'm looking for some advice for my elderly mother. She's on a fixed EDF tariff that ends at the end of April. She currently pays £126 DD per month, and the last two years she's had approx. £100-200 credit at the end of the year. She's been sent the new EDF tariffs and they're quoting her £327 per month on a fixed…

Standing charges rip off
Hello, How come Aveo can charge us £0.48 per day (electricity) and £0.28 (gas) daily standing charge ?! That double compared to March. Surely this shouldn't have anything to do with the recent energy increase, they're using the same bloody grid as before ?! There is a different standing charge depending on where we live as…

Supplier keeping me on old rate
Hello, I am still paying for gas and electric on an old fixed rate that should have ended 31st Dec 21. My supplier hasn’t moved me to the variable capped rate. Not sure whether I should tell them or see how long I can get away with this for ?!

Replacing Smart Meter monitor.
I had a smart meter installed several years ago, at the same time the company moved the meters to a position in the cubby hole which makes them really difficult to access. This was ok until I switched companies and the monitor inside the house packed up. So the readings don’t get automatically read and I rarely read it as…

Smart meter still showing old tariff
Hi all, my Shell smart meter is today, 3 April, still showing the preApril tariff and standing charge costs for dual energy. When I log into my account it says they’re still updating my account in accordance with the new cap increases. Does this mean I’m still being charged the old rates? Or perhaps in the background my…

If Water is is it better to also put the heating on?
Hi, Sorry if this is a stupid question.... If I put the boiler on to provide hot water, then may i as well put the heating on since the boiler is on anyway? and vice versa. Does this save any money than let's say having the water on for an hour, then a few hours later then putting the heating on? Should I always have them…

Future of petrol stations.
Was thinking yesterday while filling up at Morrisons, if the govt do what they are proposing and ban new petrol / diesel cars from 2030, how long beyond that are petrol stations going to be open for? I understand secondhand fuel cars will be around for some time after that date but the price of them will go though the roof…

Eon next - Too clever by half
As I'm sure as other regulars do I monitor the bills of friends and family, which totals 4 accounts to keep a close eye on, all of which were swept into Eon Next as the SoLR. All seemed well at the start as with all the Email addresses and Passwords to hand, I could access any account to download the bills and track D/D…

Is there a spreadsheet template to enter meter readings to graph usage?
I know it sounds geeky but my BG app and account is worse than useless at showing usage. Just wondering if anyone knew of a spreadsheet that I could enter readings and give the date to then plot usage and then cost as I go along? Would be nice to visually see a decrease in my gas usage now we are into warmer weather and so…

Bulb gas unit rate higher than the price cap?
I'm a bit confused by these figures from my Bulb account because it looks like the gas unit rate is higher than the price cap figure of 7.37p per kWh. I'm on a variable rate but I thought that would mean it would never go above the cap.

As pensioners and in this heating crisis we are looking for ways to save money. We are in a small 2 bed bungalow and used to have our central heating on for 3 hrs in the morning and 6 hrs at night. To meter or not
Hi All My Daughter has recently moved into her new home, the previous owner had a pre-pay meter installed for both electricity and gas. To change to Direct Debit the meter exchange has to be done by the current supplier, British Gas. The standing charges are slightly more expensive for a meter but currently, the Unit rates…

smart meter installer disconnected my storage heaters, can I ask for compensation?
Hi everyone, Bulb kept offering a free smart meter and I finally took them up on it. Back in mid-March they sent someone round to install it. Unfortunately he also disconnected my storage heaters while doing so. (With storage heaters, they release the heat on a timer so it's not immediately evident when they stop working.)…

Confusion over nature of Octopus account
In July 2021 I signed up with an Octopus Price Promise July 2021 v1 account for gas and electricity. I was a new Octopus customer. Their supply started on the 7th August 2021. The contract was I thought a fixed price tariff deal ending on 30th September 2023. This is clearly stated on the contract that they sent me (which…

Just received my energy bill
I submitted my meter readings on 1 April and have just received my bill. I currently pay £104 a month and it says “good news my payments are spot on and on track to cover expected usage”. Surely this cant be right as I was expecting to pay another £50 odd pounds a month. Anyone else had the same?
