Bulb gas unit rate higher than the price cap?

I'm a bit confused by these figures from my Bulb account because it looks like the gas unit rate is higher than the price cap figure of 7.37p per kWh.
I'm on a variable rate but I thought that would mean it would never go above the cap.

I'm on a variable rate but I thought that would mean it would never go above the cap.The cap varies by region and by payment method, there is not just one single cap figure..Looks like you are in the London region where gas prices are a little higher than the national average figure you see quoted as 'the cap'.The London gas kWh cap is £0.075173 which rounded to 2 decimal places is the 7.52p you are seeing.1 -
Cap prices vary slightly depending where you live. This gives you an idea, and whilst it's for EDF may well exactly match what you have:

Thanks. I'm meant to pay by direct debit but I don't have one set up. Instead I pay the bill manually using my Visa debit card each month. I don't build up any credit so the amount really varies depending on the time of the year. Could this be affecting the unit price I pay - surely not? Would reinstalling the direct debit change anything?MWT said:

Thanks yes I see with EDF it'd be 7.517 so almost the same as Bulb here in London.Ultrasonic said:Cap prices vary slightly depending where you live. This gives you an idea, and whilst it's for EDF may well exactly match what you have:

I'm on a variable rate but I thought that would mean it would never go above the cap.It doesn't look like Bulb are charging you any more for that payment method as the rates you quoted match the London cap for gas paid by DD, so as long as London is your region you are fine. From what I can see, Bulb, much like Octopus, do not charge more for payment types other than DD, they could, but they have decided not to it seems.

It is the same, just different rounding of the numbers.sourpuss2021 said:
