To meter or not
Options
Hi All
My Daughter has recently moved into her new home, the previous owner had a pre-pay meter installed for both electricity and gas.
To change to Direct Debit the meter exchange has to be done by the current supplier, British Gas.
The standing charges are slightly more expensive for a meter but currently, the Unit rates are the same.
With the market as it is at the moment is it worthwhile her changing ?
Thanks

I would get it changed if possible, both to save money and for the convenience.2

I would get it changed, too, but (as you've noticed) the difference in cost is small so don't fret if it takes a few weeks or months to happen.

Check there's no debt on the pre-pays. I copped for that at my first rented house (due to previous tenants). Both the landlord and a meter reader insisted there was no debt, but noop, every time I topped up it took an extra fiver off me. GRR.
I got them switched out for proper meters sharpish.0 -

Yes she has her own 'key' but previous owner did leave one in case needed.
It could indeed have been an expensive mistake.0
