Smart meter still showing old tariff

Hi all, my Shell smart meter is today, 3 April, still showing the preApril tariff and standing charge costs for dual energy.  When I log into my account it says they’re still updating my account in accordance with the new cap increases. Does this mean I’m still being charged the old rates? Or perhaps in the background my costs have indeed increased but the smart meter hasn’t been updated and the costs over the last few days will be increased in line with the new caps as soon as the meter is updated. Thanks to anyone who can clarify, I’ve spent hours in queues to ask Shell and had no luck.

Sadly I'm sure you'll be being charged at the new rates. Whatever happens you won't be worse off than you should be so I'd not be spending time trying to get through to Shell and just give it some time to likely get resolved with no further action from yourself.
  • If you are on a credit meter, all will become clear on your next bill.

Whatever type of meter, it will still be recording the correct number of units.

The cost showing on the IHD will obviously be incorrect until the tariffs load.

Hopefully you read your meter on the changeover day so you will be able to check billing is correct.

Would you be on a fixed rate contract and not on a variable?

    It’s a variable tariff.
I’m a stickler for details and it’s been bugging me for days.

The tariff you see on the IHD has no impact on how you are being billed.
So even if they never update the meter with the new tariff you will still be billed correctly at the new rates.

    Haha  it feels longer🤣
  • Same here with my IHD. But I've now set it to display kWh's used, made a spreadsheet table based on the new kWh rates plus DSC and set my budget on the IHD in kWh, so can still monitor my use fairly accurately.

Had this issue when I switched from Eon to EDF last August, it took about four months for the IHD to update to the new tariff - but all the correct information was in my EDF account anyway.

Well, they sent an email stating my tariff will change automatically on the 1st April which is fine but when I check for available tariffs,  there’s an ‘offer’ of a new tariff I can switch to and need to click to accept it.  This new tariff is at the April 1st rates previously notified by email. Weird. No, I haven’t accepted it, I’m curious to see what happens eventually.
