Gone wrong switch!
Just after some advice on were to start, my 83 year old pops was on EDF for gas and electricity, he went on billbuddy and did a switch to Octopus, but the switch has gone wrong, and now he is paying EDF and octopus for gas and octopus for electricity, also in the middle of the switch there was an address mixup and that…

Hi, we have a west facing roof on our house in Lancashire. I'd just like to know if there is anyone in a similiar situation has had solar panels installed recently and, if so, who supplier did you use?? Thank you in advance!!

Why are the standing charges increasing?
I can understand that the price cap is moving upwards in line with wholesale costs of energy, but why does this mean the standing charges are increasing? Surely the standing charge is meant to reflect the costs of the energy provider in billing, etc and also paying for the infrastructure and is fixed? Sorry if the answer…

Smart meter issues
I have been with SO energy since moving into my home in October which had a Scottish power smart meter installed. The energy crisis was just starting when I started my fix which means I’m paying 8.4p per kWh of gas (in hindsight I know it would of been cheaper going on variable with the price cap) My smart meter dashboard…

Smart meters and metal boxes
Hi there. A friend of mine told me that when utility warehouse came out to fit their smart meter they were told it wasn’t possible because their current meter is housed in a metal box in the porch. It looks like the one I’ve screen shotted here: Mine is in a metal box outside on the side of my house so I felt compelled to…

Economy 7 smart meter timing
Hi all, I have economy 7 running 4 storage heaters in a small (rented) house. Octopus Energy fitted the smart meter last year (albeit with different occupant and hence tariff). Octopus have told me that my cheap rate starts at 12.30am but I can hear a click at midnight (and fast flashing light on the meter) which clearly…

What type of fault could this be?
So Octopus have been helping me diagnose a problem, and it has been narrowed down to this. Creep check. - no fault found, meter does not move at all when trip is turned off, kwh light stays red confirming no use. Device usage check. - This has been combined as well with watt meters, and the meter is recording just over…

Impending price hike
With all the talk of a 54% price rise in April....that really only applies to people who are currently on their suppliers standard variable rates. Anyone who is currently on a fixed term deal may see a price increase significantly higher. I received my bill today from British Gas (I was with Peoples Energy, so am currently…

Guide: What are the price cap unit rates?
The energy price cap is misnamed – there’s no cap on how much you pay. If you use more energy, you'll pay more. The cap is on the standing charges and the unit rates for gas and electricity. Yet the cap is usually quoted as an annual figure, based on a typical amount of energy use (currently £1,277/year rising to…

Previous Supplier Record
I was transferred from PFP Energy to British Gas. British Gas have now produced a totally unreasonable first bill with an estimated reading as the starting point. I provided PFP with meter reading as part of their wind down but I can no longer access any records through their website (bills or meter readings). Has anyone…

Fixed or price cap
So, I took out a fixed tariff in November freely and without pressure. I knew it was significantly more expensive at the time but reasoned that energy prices were very volatile and wanted some certainty. Also, I've had fixed tariffs for some time and they've always worked out well for me. However, I wasn't really aware of…

Shell Energy - Useless when it comes to Smart Meters
Shell Energy really are useless when it comes to Smart Meters. First installed November 2020. Electric worked, gas didn't (required 'dual band' meter). Fast forward 12 months to November 2021and numerous (circa 12) visits from SMS on behalf of Shell...and finally got electric and gas smart meters working. (3 gas meters, 2…

refund of credit from Green Energy after passing the Shell
On the notfication of Green Energy stopping services I researched on Money Saving Experts site again for best provider and moved to Utility Warehouse. Whilst the Green Energy site said not to cancel my direct debit I did as was over £400 in credit - I was told this would move to the new supplier Shell. Shell toke over 26th…

Smart Meter
What work is involved in having a Smart Meter. Do they have to disconnect the gas and remove old meter as well as replacing the electric meter too. It appears that I will not be able to select a fix from April unless I have one fitted.

Should I take this octopus fix?
I was really trying to avoid asking this and trying to work it out myself, but I'm struggling. My fix ended in nov and I've been on the variable since. My annual usage for last year was - Electricity 1071kWh Gas 4312kWh (I predict I will use a bit more this year for a few reasons) The fix I have currently been offered is…

Can I save money by paying for some energy upfront before price hikes in April ?
Am I able to pay upfront for any energy at the old rates prior to the April increases? We did this with VAT a few years ago, and whilst I know its a different situation to that, for those of us who are lucky to have some spare cash, wondered whether there was a way of paying for the energy at the old prices upfront whilst…

EDF - worth going for the fix?
Hi all, Looking for some guidance, as I'm sure many others are too. - Was previously on Utility Point, now on EDF's Welcome Variable tariff paying £109/month (have been with them around 4 months) - Based on the last 2 years, my annual electricity usage is 3850kw/h & gas is 1062 kw/h - EDF are offering me Online Long-Term +…

Moved house - no energy supplier since April 2021
Hello All We moved house in April last year. I took meter readings for both gas, electricity and water on the day we moved in. However I have never signed up with any energy supplier, I had assumed the energy supplier of the previous owner would takeover but as it turns out they did not. I now have 10 months usage without…

I Don't Want Government £200 Energy Loan
I don't want the government interfering in my financial affairs period. Whose to say that when they claw it back energy prices have risen even higher so you get £40 added to an even more astronomical energy bill? Thanks but no thanks.
