Smart meter issues

I have been with SO energy since moving into my home in October which had a Scottish power smart meter installed. The energy crisis was just starting when I started my fix which means I’m paying 8.4p per kWh of gas (in hindsight I know it would of been cheaper going on variable with the price cap) My smart meter dashboard showed I was using around £3-4 of gas an electric a day but at the start of January it shot up to £7-8 in gas alone. We are a 3 bed house with 2 people and a brand new boiler fitted shortly after move in. Does it seem right that I’m using roughly 2500kWh of gas in a month or has anyone else had any issues like this before where the meter started over clocking all of a sudden? I’ve raised the issue with my energy provider but it’s been a month with no joy so far due to their backlog.

    Welcome to the forum.
2500kWh of gas in a month is not exceptional at the coldest time of the year.

As Gerry said more than possible to achieve... that having heating on 8+ hours a day. I used to use 18,000-22,000 years ago in a 2 bed.

Taking monthly meter reads, know where your energy use is going and what it's costing, this will bring it down, along with questioning yourself .. do I really need the heating on as I'm going bed or out soon?

I'd also say your electricity usage is leaning on the high side for 2 people too...

Cut back your usage by close to half of you usage and you'll have bills like you did 2 years ago.
