Heating method and EPC rating
A thought provoking article in the Telegraph today dicusses the effect on the EPC of a Heat Pump or a 'Boiler' (presumably gas/oil/LPG) This subject has been touched upon recently in this forum. The headline of the article is that on average a Heat Pump costs 27% more to run than a 'boiler'. Whilst there is general…

Economy 7 hours
We were switched to Shell Energy recently and I had a problem finding out what the E7 hours are. Previously they were 22.30 to 00.30 and 02.30 to 07.30. The first reply from Shell said I needed to find out myself as it depended which area I lived in! Second reply said 00.15 to 07.15 but didn't sound too convincing so I…

EV Tariff Compared
Hi All, I've had an EV for about a month now and am keen to switch to an EV tariff for obvious reasons. I'm currently with Bulb and stuck with them due to the current energy switching crisis, but I just looked and they do actually run an EV tariff in beta. Everyone always harps on about Octopus Go so I was interested to…

Business electric contract, is it really fixed? (see T&C)
Hi, I have received a new quote from my current provider for business electric contract. Its supposedly a 24 month fixed contract. I quizzed them if it was really fixed and they send me back an amendment to the T&C. Does this mean they can increase the per kW/h price and standing charge as they see fit? See below, thanks!

British Gas ‘Price Promise Sept 2022’ fixed plan is not fixed anymore
Hi all, I’ve recently moved to a new home and we switched to ‘Price Promise Sept 2022’ fixed tariff until Sept 2022 with British Gas. We now got the first statement and I can see an increase in tariff from mid November, which was not communicated. I’ve contacted them and they have confirmed this is misleading and the…

Problem with new tariff
I changed onto a new tariff on 5th. I've had an email tonight saying that tariff is a smart meter tariff and if I don't want to go onto a smart meter then I need to discuss a different plan. I've been onto BG chat and he made no sense at all. Basically said ignore email as that tariff will still work without a smart meter.…

Help with gas bill
Hi, I would be really grateful for some help with our first gas bill at our new home. The meter says m3 and I assume it’s a metric meter. We’ve used 914 units and I’ve attached the bill for some help. I’ve never had a bill as high as this even in my other home which was a lot bigger. This property has 5 bedrooms. Can…

Fixed price tariff vs price cap
Please could someone help, we don't know where else to go for advice. We've always used price comparison sites to switch to the best energy deals. In October last year my husband got an email to say our deal with Shell was coming to an end. He used a price comparison site and input our previous years usage. Scottish Power…

Credit
I was a customer of Together Energy and sold the house they were supplying on 3rd December 2021. I had a credit of around £290. They took their time and I received an email on the 6th January 2022 saying I would receive the credit within 14 days - normal industry practice. They went out of business and I never received the…

Energy prices already doubled/trebled
HiJust had a ridiculously extortionate gas and electric bill (£1500 for 72 days!) from Scottish Power. Recently moved into this property and SP were my provider at the previous address. Looking into why this might have happened I see on my new tariff electricity price per kWh is double what I was paying previously and gas…

We moved into a new house in July 2019. After 9 months (April 2021) the gas meter stopped recording any usage and the smart meter stopped working. We have periodically contacted British Gas (the energy supplier) to fix the problem, but they have failed to send an engineer and cancelled the most recent appoinment,…
