British Gas ‘Price Promise Sept 2022’ fixed plan is not fixed anymore
Hi all, I’ve recently moved to a new home and we switched to ‘Price Promise Sept 2022’ fixed tariff until Sept 2022 with British Gas. We now got the first statement and I can see an increase in tariff from mid November, which was not communicated. I’ve contacted them and they have confirmed this is misleading and the tariff is now variable (they communicated the price increase in August but I’ve switched in September) This doesn’t feel legal. Any advise? Many thanks

Any advise? Many thanksPrice Promise Sep 2022 prices are fixed until 30 September 2022 at rates that are below the 1st October 2021 OFGEM Price Cap rates. You’ll pay a daily standing charge and unit rate for each fuel on this tariff. We’ll also add VAT. If you have a multiple rate electricity meter, you may have more than one unit rate. The price of your tariff won’t go up or down unless you change your tariff, change how you pay us (for example you stop paying by Direct Debit) or the government or regulator does something or plans something that means the price must change. For example, changing the amount of VAT we must charge. We’ll contact you if there is a change to your price. What are your new rates? Are they below the October 2021 Ofgem price cap rates (see link in my signature)? If they are, the best you can hope for is token compensation for them failing to advise you of the price change.N. I am in a dispute with my energy supplier and need the details but I cannot find them anywhere.0 -

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

And can you show us where the unit rates changed? (Hide any serial numbers/ MPAN etc on your bill if you post a copy)0 -
