Fraud attempt?
I was with Bristol energy and am now a British Gas customer.
Today I received request for meter readings from Bristol Energy! Duh ,I sent them.
The site seemed real. A check on the Bristol Energy website and it says they are no longer trading. This email said they would continue to take my DD. I contacted British Gas who of course couldn't help.Though the lady I spoke with said she would raise it as a complaint.
Being unable to contact Bristol Energy, I cancelled my DD. Has anyone else had the same? I know Martin said not to cancel DDs but although Bristol Energy probably are not responsible this looked very real and had all the right details.

I've been asked for meter reading long after suppliers have ceased trading. I suspect is to do with the "mysterious third party" who decides the open/close read (or it might just be !!!!!!-up when they send a request to all, whether they have previously submitted a reading, or not).

I don't see how this is in any way attempted fraud? All it sounds like is the normal process of winding up a business, where they are checking everything for the SoLR process.racken said:I was with Bristol energy and am now a British Gas customer.

I presume the request for readings didn't come along with any other demands for information that you also sent? If it was just the reading request then it sounds like either - as others have said, a request as a result of the SOLR process, or possibly even an automated email that simply hasn't had its process terminated yet.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
