Repayment of credits from failed energy companies - British Gas
Has anyone had success in getting repayments of failed energy company credits from British Gas? I was a customer of Neon Reef which failed before Christmas owing me over £600. I have waited patiently for British Gas to acknowledge this credit without any success. They are impossible to contact. They have a chat box but…

New house - how to get the best energy deal
My son is about to get the keys to his first house. We think the current energy supplier is Utilita but we don’t know the current tariff (it’s hard to know anything definite as the previous owner has died and the executor is a distant relative so doesn’t know any of the details). Should he stay with Utilita - will he «…

Loan not loan vs supported living
A question regarding the £200 "loan-not-loan". If a person is currently in a bedsit in a supported living accommodation block and therefore are not paying for energy/water bills. Will they have to pay the £40 a year in the future, when they are able to support themselves. Also they have paid Council Tax of just under £1000…

Mystery payment from Octopus Energy
I have a credit in my bank account from "Octopus Energy". No reference number or anything.I have never been an Octopus customer. I have been a customer of British Gas, Avro, Outfox the Market and So Energy in the past 4 years. Is it plausible that, if I have a credit balance with an energy retailer after I leave them and…

My energy deal ends in March. Should I switch before the price rise?
I'm currently with bulb spending around £166 a month for dual fuel. But my fixed rate ends on the 11th March. Using a comparison site, I can get a 2 year fixed deal with Sainsuburys for £248. Which is around 48.8% more than what we currently pay, but less than the 51% increase. Is it worth moving?

Faulty electric meter
Changed electricity suppliers from British Gas to Eon.in Feb 2021. BG had fitted a new meter in Sept 2020. When asked to do the final reading by BG, the meter showed what I can only describe as a sad face emojiI took photos and submitted to BG. Who weren't interested and said my new supplier will fix it. Despite repeated…

EV only tariffs, battery storage, and the current unfair advantage
ive recently noticed suppliers doing very attractive rates for over night use. but when ive enquired they say this is for EV owners only? this strikes me as very unfair in the current crisis as it essentially benefits people who are able to afford expensive EV's. some battery storage options have been pushing this idea and…

Smart meter
A new tactic being used by the energy companies is to threaten that you may lose hot water and heating as your current meter is probably an old Radio teleswitch network one. Not sure if this is true -how can you tell?

EON NEXT price increase
Has anyone noticed an increased amount showing on their smart meter since the automatic move from EON to EON Next? I am on a fixed contract witn EON until October 2022 and the automatic move to EON next should not have resulted in a price increase. But our daily charges have increased by about £1.50 a day. Chased for incorrect refund
I moved away from my old energy supplier (Bulb) over 8 months ago. I had a few pence in credit on my account after my final bill so I didn't even bother requesting this as a refund.
