Mystery payment from Octopus Energy
I have a credit in my bank account from "Octopus Energy". No reference number or anything.I have never been an Octopus customer.
I have been a customer of British Gas, Avro, Outfox the Market and So Energy in the past 4 years. Is it plausible that, if I have a credit balance with an energy retailer after I leave them and they're taken over by Octopus, Octopus would pay this back to me?
Never mind, found it:
"The data for accounts who left Avro prior to Octopus Energy taking over
and were owed a credit are now being imported into our systems with
refunds being processed in batches over the coming weeks. We‘ll attempt
to return any credits to the bank account used with Avro in the first
instance."
Well colour me surprised. I had assumed that Avro going bust would have left me high and dry as an unsecured creditor. Apparently not!

Octopus are the SoLR for Avro. I presume you had a credit with Avro when you left them for another supplier.

OP, as a frequent switcher, I'm surprised you didn't realise your Avro money was safe - but at least you do now.0
